Skin analysis

What skin type do I have?
Skin types are divided into four different types and in most cases you have a combination of two types.

The four skin types are:
- Normal skin
- Fat skin
- Dry and sensitive skin
- Combination of two skin types

To determine your skin type, we will first do a skin analysis with our skin analyzer, to make sure you get the right treatment and products that suit your skin type/condition.

Why skin analysis is important?

Your skin plays a major role in protection against external influences. It ensures that your immune system does its job by combating viruses and bacteria, regulates your body temperature and it is a sensitive organ that warns you in time of dangers.

The skin must therefore continuously repair itself. The outer layer, the epidermis, is a thin, first protective layer. The function of this layer is to protect skin cells that you continue to renew from birth throughout your life. Dead skin cells also accumulate in this epidermis. Below the epidermis are the dermis and subcutis. These two layers ensure the production of collagen and, among other things, give your skin elasticity. Melanocytes are also located in this layer, which provide protection against UV radiation. The dermis also contains the hair roots, nerves, sweat glands and blood vessels. The blood vessels are responsible for removing toxins. This is an ongoing process and together these organisms ensure the functioning of your skin. It is therefore important to take good care of your skin and especially your face.

Skin analysis

The products that we use at the institute and that you will use in your daily routine will be specifically tailored to your skin type . The skin analysis will show which skin type you have:

Normal skin: Your skin does not feel greasy during the day and is not sensitive (feels tight) after shaving. You hardly have any problems with acne and pimples.

Oily skin: Oily skin is normally firmer in structure and less sensitive to chemicals. The pores are medium to large, which means you regularly suffer from blackheads . The advantage of this skin type is that you are less likely to suffer from wrinkles. Your skin has a natural glow. You regularly suffer from acne, pimples and blackheads .

Possible causes of oily skin:

  • Hormone levels out of balance
  • Humid climate
  • Power supply
  • Genetic predisposition

Dry and sensitive skin: Your forehead and cheeks show flakes and your skin is thin and rough to the touch. The small pores make dry skin appear smooth, but this actually makes it extra susceptible to wrinkles.

Possible causes of dry and sensitive skin:

  • The skin is dehydrated because the oil glands do not send enough natural oils to the epidermis
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Deficiency of vitamin A and vitamin B
  • Suffering from eczema
  • Allergic reaction to a care product
  • Exposed to cold and dry humidity for too long, mainly in winter

Combination of skin types. The T-zone on your face is oily, while the rest of your face (cheeks and jawline) are normal or dry. During the day, the T-zone becomes extra oily.

Aging skin. Your skin starts to show wrinkles and signs of age. This process is accelerated by excessive exposure to UV radiation without protection.

Your skin type can change depending on stress, age and season.

For optimal care of your skin, you should:

  1. Cleaning
  2. Exfoliate
  3. Hydrate

Be advised by your treating specialist during the skin analysis and always use cleansers, scrubbers, etc. that are specifically intended for your skin type. She will give you the necessary explanation about which products are suitable for your skin type and how you can use them at home.
